Purchases new books, coordinates the sale of used books, orders new inventory as needed. Additionally, Assistant Bookstore Director typically reports to a bookstore director. The Assistant Bookstore Director supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the management team in the daily operations of the store and in meeting sales and production goals. Daily duties will include some management functions, opening/closing store, ensuring themselves/staff follows all policies and procedures. This position encompasses a wide variety of responsibilities related to book selling, including knowledge of books.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
Experience: One year related experience.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, Email, Internet use, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Certificates & Licenses: It is preferred that candidates have a CA Driver’s License and driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company requirements.
Other Requirements: Ability to operate POS. Must be able to understand the basic principles of running a retail store: Stocking, merchandise flow, quotas, cash handling, bank deposit procedures and sales reports. Ability to work with simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, fractions, percentages, etc.). Ability to calculate figures and amounts related to cash handling (for example, change discounts, etc.). Ability to read and understand sales reports.
