    Clipping in and throwing on a helmet more your style? Cramerton has you covered with trail head access to
    the Rocky Branch Mountain Bike Park with over five miles of single track that connects the River Front
    Downtown in Cramerton to Historic Downtown Belmont. If dipping a paddle in the water is more your
    speed, Cramerton has five different river accesses to the South Fork River and is the terminus of a longer 8-
    mile blueway as designated by the Carolina Thread Trail and is proud to be called the only true "river town"
    in the region. If you're looking for a variety of items to fill your day, your options are endless.

    Goat Island Park and Greenway, a 30-acre island park in the middle of the South Fork River or you can rock
    a while on the only observation pier on the South Fork River while waving at paddlers on the water and
    families walking along the iconic Goat Island pedestrian bridge. Once you've worked up an appetite, grab
    some lunch at one of the Town’s great local eateries.

    After lunch take a stroll across the two pedestrian bridges over the South Fork River to the Rocky Branch

    The Town of Cramerton, NC (population 6,100) is seeking a Director of Parks and Recreation who is
    visionary, outgoing, well rounded and has the skills and dedication necessary to achieve Department and
    Town Goals.

    The Town of Cramerton prides itself on being the premier outdoor recreation destination in the Charlotte
    Region, proudly being the only river town in the area. Cramerton has over 200 acres of parks and
    greenspace - equaling 1 acre of park land for every 26 residents, three miles of the South Fork River flowing
    through the heart of Town, five river access and fishing piers, over 13 miles of trails and greenways, and
    hosts several special events annually.

    The individual selected for this position will have the exciting opportunity to strengthen existing
    partnerships and manage the development and buildout of a downtown Arts, Music and Recreation Center
    with the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation; Rocky Branch Park with the City of Belmont and Tarheel
    Trailblazers; and the River Link Greenway with the Town of McAdenville and the Carolina Thread Trail.

    The ideal candidate will be resourceful with the ability to make informed decisions while displaying strong,
    diverse communication, specifically capable of building and maintaining close and highly productive
    working relationships. The candidate will also have interpersonal skills and be able to consider the ways in
    which decisions and relationships may affect the organization and community. An ideal candidate will have
    experience and understand the significance of relationship building with other recreation organizations
    within the region.

    The successful candidate will be a dedicated public servant with proven experience and strong technical
    skills in parks management and recreation programming. The candidate will lead and manage activities of
    the administration, facilities, parks, and recreation which includes, but not limited to responsibilities for a
    pool, gym, trails, building upkeep, capital project management, and river amenities/ facilities.

    The ideal candidate will possess a four year degree in recreation administration, physical education, or a
    related field and eight (8) years of experience in the field with five (5) years of supervisory experience; or an
    equivalent combination of education and experience plus additional parks and recreation related
    certifications. Local government experience is preferred. A valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
