The Southern Utah Veterans Home is seeking a motivated and creative Recreational Therapist Assistant Director to join our amazing team!
Job Description:
The Recreational Therapist Assistant Director works under the supervision of the Recreational Therapy Director to meet the needs of residents in the facility and Recreation Therapy team. The Recreational Therapist Assistant Director assists in implementing the APIED process (Assess, Program, Implement, Evaluate, Document) with residents in the facility, working alongside a team of other RT professionals. They work to meet the residents’ emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and social needs, as identified in their plan of care, and help to manage the Recreation Therapy team.
Some tasks include: inter-disciplinary team meetings for planning of care, documenting care & implementing changes to Care Plans as needed, 1:1 interventions, small resident groups, large social gatherings (such as for holidays), outings into the community, running/attending meetings when the director is unavailable, and additional managerial tasks, as needed.
Population/Facility Description:
The Southern Utah Veterans Home is a 108-bed Skilled Nursing Facility, with mostly Long-Term Care residents that are veterans or spouses of veterans. Two of the Communities are specialized Memory Care halls, and one is a short-term Rehabilitation unit.

Must be a CTRS or TRT
Food Handler’s Permit, may be obtained upon hire.
Must have ability to work independently and be self-motivated, organize and prioritize work and assignments, meet deadlines, write reports, facilitate groups, and communicate clearly.

Work well with people of all ages, think clearly, and make appropriate decisions.
