TOWNSHIP OF WHITEMARSH POSITION TITLE: Recreation Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal and Year-Round (Part-Time)

GENERAL DEFINITION:
Excellent opportunity for a professional that is interested in gaining hands-on experience in the Parks and Recreation field working with a year round, full-service, award-winning community Parks and Recreation Department team. The position will involve all aspects of the department including special events, recreation programming, park management, customer service, and marketing. The position will include nights and weekends, depending upon activities and events. Hours, schedules, and compensation are flexible based on the candidates’ skills and experience.
Essential Job Functions (Functions essential to attaining the job objective). This
position has many functions that can include but are not limited to the following:
· Office functions including: registrations of programs, telephone correspondence,
customer service, cash operations, registering participants in database, etc.
· Marketing and advertising of various programs and activities.
· Assisting in youth program operations.
· Planning year round programs and special events.
· Ordering sports equipment, arts & crafts, first aid, and t-shirts.
· Recruitment of summer staff.
· Assisting with sponsorship program.
· Supervising and evaluating recreational programs.
· Chaperoning various trips and excursions.
· Special projects and duties as assigned.
Job Standards (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential functions):
· Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age (a valid Driver’s License is required).
· Prefer degree in Park & Recreation, Education or Business Management fields or related experience.
· Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills needed; must be highly
motivated, professional, and detail oriented.
