As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the NCAA Division II, CSU Pueblo Athletics plays a supporting role in the higher education mission while enhancing a sense of community, strengthening our identity, and playing a prominent role in enrollment management for the university.

    Description of Job

    This full-time, year-round position provides an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program in Athletics. This position will provide support in the overall organization and management of the women’s soccer program while reporting to the head women’s soccer coach. In accordance with the vision of the head coach, the position is responsible for serving as the assistant coach; developing training sessions and practice and game plans; scouting opponents and creating a sound offensive/defensive strategy; recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes; monitoring player academics and providing mentoring to student-athletes; monitoring NCAA compliance; promoting the CSU Pueblo women’s soccer program; developing camps, clinics and fund-raising opportunities for women’s soccer; and serving as an influential and effective leader, collaborator, and team player for the department. The position fulfills other duties as assigned by the head women’s soccer coach and/or vice president for athletics.

    Primary Duties
    Coach student-athletes, including skill demonstration. Lead training sessions, team practices and scheduled games/competitions; develop game preparation and strategy; condition and train student-athletes to develop skill, character, and teamwork in women’s soccer.

    Manage the women’s soccer program by planning and coordinating all practices, workouts and competitions; ensuring that all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress. Manage the program’s operating budget through procurement request and travel reimbursements; and develop and implement fund raising programs to supplement operating funds.

    Recruit highly qualified prospective student-athletes.

    Monitor player academics including student welfare and encourage academic excellence.

    Organize and conduct team camps; develop fund-raising opportunities; serve on committees that promote the success of the program and athletics; establish and maintain community contacts that enhance the success of the program.

    Ancillary Duties:
    Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

    Salary Range
    $35,000- $38,000

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year institution.
    • Willing and able to work nights and weekends.
    • Physical ability to fulfill duties of the position, including skill demonstration
    • At least one year of successful coaching in soccer at high school or higher level, including intern or graduate assistant work
    • Experience in a position or activity that required knowledge of NCAA and/or RMAC rules and regulations
    • Experience in a position or activity that required skills in cooperation, organization, communication and problem solving
    • Experience working in a diverse environment
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
    • Demonstrated commitment and ability to motivate, teach, and counsel student-athletes
    • Previous experience at the collegiate level in women’s soccer
    • Strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach and counsel student-athletes to achieve their highest potential
    • Previous experience recruiting NCAA qualified student-athletes
    • Experience with and commitment to working with diverse student populations
