Job Purpose: Assistant Taproom Manager

At Ursa Minor Brewing, the taproom is an essential piece of our business and will likely be the first place consumers will experience our brand. The Assistant Taproom Manager will be responsible for making the taproom experience nothing short of exceptional.

The core responsibilities of the Assistant Taproom Manager

• Lead, Manage, and hold Taproom Staff Accountable
• Develop and elevate the customer experience
• Assist with event logistics and execution
• Culinary quality control and assurance

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of our Assistant Taproom manager will vary and change throughout the seasons, and it is expected that the Assistant Taproom Manager independently manages their schedule in order to complete all duties required. A schedule that includes nights and weekends is generally expected, with the possibility of also attending large scale events.

Lead, Manage, and hold Taproom Staff Accountable

• Be personally connected and engaged with all Taproom staff
• Constantly evaluate team workflow and strategies
• Work directly with the Taproom General Manager to develop operations & standard operating procedures
• Create a weekly schedule to staff both kitchen and bar in accordance with the needs of the business

Develop and elevate our customer service and experience

• Work with Taproom Management Team to develop and execute the best customer experience possible
• Ensure all guests are treated with dignity, respect, and are provided the highest quality experience possible
• Work with Taproom General Manager to train, develop, and empower taproom staff
• Serve as first line of defense to ensure our brand is experienced at the highest level possible
• Collaborate with other departments to solve problems and improve operations

Assist with event logistics and execution

• Be an active member of the event planning and logistics team
• Lead smaller events independently
• Be flexible and a good team player in development of new events

Culinary Quality Control & Assurance

• Push kitchen operations to continually improve
• Work with kitchen staff to support kitchen operations
• Empower kitchen staff to keep pursuing excellence

• Available to work (40 hrs/ week) including nights and weekends
• Prior bar management experience
• Demonstrating knowledge of craft beer, including basic understanding of beer production (Cicerone Beer Server or similar certification preferred)
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Ability to anticipate and proactively address problems in fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated leadership
• Positive attitude and ability to work with diverse set of people
• Basic familiarity with Arryved POS software/ MS Office software
• Ability to lift 35-50lbs
• Ability to move full kegs with aid of dolly
• Aptitude for and desire to learn the mechanical workings of taproom equipment in order to address problems quickly and efficiently

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive wages determined by experience: $45,000-$55,000
• QSEHRA: $250/mo plus $100/mo/dependent
