Job Summary: i9 Sports is seeking a part-time Multi-Sport Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in running practice and game for youth athletes, ensuring equipment setup and facility cleanliness, and enforcing sports rules and policies. Responsibilities also include coaching and officiating games as needed, maintaining sports facilities, and assisting with general duties as assigned. The candidate should have a strong understanding of baseball, soccer, flag football, and basketball principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in active environments. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to our mission of delivering quality sports programs to children and families in the community while working in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

Operating Practice and Game Sites

• Set-up and take-down of equipment for various sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, and football.
• Ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of the facility or field.
• Monitoring the check-in table and providing assistance to participants.
• Providing answers to questions or directing inquiries to appropriate staff.
• Enforcing all Mercy Street rules and policies to maintain a safe and respectful environment.

Coaching and Officiating Games as Necessary

• Upholding the Sports Official Code of Conduct and enforcing the rules of play.
• Acting as the sole representative at many of the Mercy Street games; maintaining control and ensuring fair play.
• Making quick and fair decisions during games as needed.

General Sports Facility Maintenance

• Aid in maintaining Mercy Street sports playing fields to ensure they are ready for play.
• Assist in maintaining Mercy Street Sports facilities, including common areas, restrooms, buildings, and storage facilities.
• Observing and communicating sports facility maintenance needs to the supervisor.

Other Duties as Assigned

• Assisting the Sports Coordinators with any additional tasks as needed.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Understanding of basic principles of sports programs such as basketball, baseball, soccer, and football.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with players, coaches, and parents.
• Ability to maintain a courteous, friendly attitude and be a positive role model.
• Capability to make sound decisions and judgments even in noisy and active environments.
• Physical ability to lift items up to 50 lbs., perform repetitive stooping, bending, and movement, stand and walk for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Visual acuity required for monitoring potential hazards for children.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated to share energy with sports participants.
• Strong human relation skills.
• Understanding of i9 Sports philosophy and mission.
• Ability to work_ Saturdays ONLY_ (for the full duration of the season, ~8 weeks)
• Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week
