Assistant Pastry Chef jobs in Norfolk, VA

SUMMARY

The Stockpot Norfolk is looking for a professional pastry chef to join our fast-paced kitchen. Pastry experience is preferred, but we are willing to train someone who is willing to learn. A successful candidate will be responsible for executing pastries to the requirements of our Pastry Chef, prepping menu items as per recipe standards, and keeping a sanitized work area. We are seeking an individual who has experience in the food service industry, and is committed to quality food presentation and service. This is a part time position to start, with growth opportunity available to the right candidate. Competitive pay with growth potential.

The position will start between $15-18 an hour, dependent upon experience. This is not a seasonal position. All employees, including part time, earn PTO.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• assist our pastry chef with executing pastry needs for both of our locations, including our house bread
• ability to multitask
• attention to detail/consistency in product
• be able to keep station clean while working around other people
• good time management skills
• memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes
• ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas, and all food storage areas meets restaurant cleaning standards
• monitor product freshness and rotate out old product to dates

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• come to shift on time, presentable
• ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
• must be able to lift at least 40lbs at a time on regular basis
• excellent organization and communication skills
• comfortable working closely with team members in a fast-paced and open kitchen environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
