The Penny Ice Creamery | Made From Scratch
The Penny Ice Creamery is the only Ice Cream Shop in Santa Cruz that makes ice cream completely from scratch in house. We create unique, seasonal ice cream flavors made with local and organic ingredients.
The Ice Cream Maker/Pastry Assistant is responsible for preparing all of the ingredients that go into our ice cream, and eventually spinning and pasteurizing the ice cream. Duties include cracking eggs, making syrups, jams, various confections, and preparing fruit and vegetables. Once you have shown your prep abilities, you'll be trained to spin ice cream using our Emery Thompson Batch Ice Cream Spinner! One you master ice cream spinning, we will be able to train you to pasteurize and help you get your pasteurization license. Anyone with a current pasteurization license is encouraged to apply.
