The Stack Family Center for Biopharmaceutical Education and Training (CBET), located at Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany, NY, is an evolutionary leap in health sciences education and biomanufacturing workforce training. CBET is a purpose-built bioprocessing center with upstream and downstream laboratories that are equipped with the latest industry-grade technologies with recent expansion to cell and gene therapy labs. The first center of its kind in New York, CBET has the potential to establish the Capital Region as a biopharma hub. CBET leverages the expertise of faculty, staff, and state-of-the-art facilities & equipment, to emerge as a trusted partner for organizations seeking bioprocessing support and development. The CBET Associate Director is responsible primarily for the industry workforce development programs, including content development, administration, and marketing. The Associate Director is responsible for developing a client base and for ensuring courses are executed successfully and with maximum enrollment to bring in revenue for the Center. The Associate Director is responsible for building awareness and relationships with biopharmaceutical companies specifically, and the life science industry in general. The Associate Director reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with college and center staff to support contract services and academic programing.
- Assist the Executive Director in developing a long-term strategic business plan for industry training and research service programs
- Conduct a comprehensive analysis of current market trends, including the demand for workforce development programs, client needs, and the competition.
- Identify specific areas where CBET can offer unique value propositions.
- Identify potential target clients, such as emerging biotech firms, established pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions seeking customized training in cell culture, fermentation, protein expression, purification, and process development.
- Collaborate to identify target audiences and promote programming; Participate in various job fairs, meetings, and trainings.
- Work with industry leaders to identify and address critical workforce development needs
- Provide customized training to the target audience by building upon the diverse portfolio of services that are currently offered.
- Utilize voice of customer (VOC) intel to guide areas of growth.
- Forge strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech startups, and research organizations to expand the CBET’s reach and enhance its reputation within the industry.
- Conduct regular financial assessments to monitor the performance of CBET’s offerings and make necessary adjustments to ensure long-term sustainability and profitability.
- Document risks and opportunities, assessing potential changes on a regular basis.
- Explore opportunities for diversification, geographical expansion, and the development of new program offerings to stay ahead of market trends and secure a prominent and stable position for CBET.
- Assist with securing and managing a substantial grant portfolio, supporting CBET’s initiatives.
- Ensure development programs engage all members of the community and enrich the pipeline of talent to the industry through DEI.
