    Position Summary:

     

    The Middle School Assistant Principal serves as a pivotal link between the school Director, Principal, middle school faculty, and students. This role focuses on fostering a strong sense of community within the middle school division while overseeing its day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include overseeing school operations, collaborating with stakeholders, assessing student performance, fostering a professional learning community, conducting personnel administration duties, and supporting the Director and Principal as needed.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    • Master's degree in middle school education is required, with preference given to candidates holding a School Administration Degree or working toward a School Administration Degree
    • Three to five years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience
    • Ability to adhere to New Dimensions Charter School's rules, policies, and procedures, along with state and federal regulations
    • Flexibility to accommodate individuals with disabilities
    • Demonstrate a deep understanding of educational principles and administrative practices
    • Knowledge of curriculum and curriculum trends as well as state, federal, and local requirements.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality for all communications 
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment  
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, and excellent organizational, technological, and follow-up skills

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Participate in planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating middle school operations
    • Collaborates with school administrators in assessing and recommending school programs and policies 
    • Ensure implementation of procedures and schedules, including electives and Flex Friday
    • Address and resolve day-to-day disciplinary issues within the middle school grades, maintaining fairness and consistency in accordance with school policies and procedures.
    • Engage in regular communication and collaboration with middle school teachers through weekly meetings to address concerns. Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships
    • Ability to perform under stress and adapt to emergency situations
    • Awareness of cultural differences and sensitivity to diversity
    • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements in local, state, and federal laws

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing
    • Leadership abilities to supervise program development and establishment
    • Proficiency in current software systems

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 15 pounds frequently
    • Regular sitting, standing, walking, and other physical activities
    • Hearing and speech abilities for communication
    • Visual acuity for computer work and office tasks
    • Mobility to work in various environments, including classrooms and outdoor conditions
    • Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels and varying temperatures

    Months of Employment:

    • Ten-month position with potential for additional months as assigned
    • Compensation provided for additional months as necessary

    Evaluation:

    • Performance evaluation conducted in accordance with the Board's policy on staff evaluation.ns, share updates, and strategize educational initiatives.
    • Build a rapport with parents and students to responsibly empower them in their educational journeys and create a layer of self-accountability
    • Foster an effective professional learning community aligned with the school improvement plan
    • Supervise personnel administration duties for staff, including, evaluations
    • Perform additional duties as requested by the Director or Principal
