Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Assistant to the Principal

FLSA: Exempt Professional

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in administration

• State teaching license

• Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience

• Effective communication skills

• Effective problem solving skills

• Ability to work during non-scheduled teaching hours

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Teacher’s salary schedule plus a 12.5% rider

CONTACT TIME:

• Whenever a substitute is employed in the absence of the principal.

• Three (3) additional duty days to be determined by the principal listed under responsibilities.

• Evening and weekend time devoted to projects and activities outlined by the principal listed under responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• 
  To provide assistance to the principal during the normal operation of the school.

• To provide administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.

• To provide leadership and support to the principal in the following organizational areas.

• Summer school registration

• Pre-school activities

• School handbooks

• Coordination of PTA activities

• Curriculum organization

• In-service sessions for faculty

• Other administrative tasks as assigned by the principal
