Assistant Principal, Middle School

DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the school principal, serves as a co-administrator with the principal, performing duties as assigned by the principal involving major portions of the school operation. Assumes administrative responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises assigned departments or subjects of instruction and provides leadership to the instructional program.
• Supervises and evaluates the performance of the classified and certificated personnel assigned by the principal.
• Assists in developing the master schedule of the school, including teacher assignments, room assignments, data process coding, and school organization
• Assists in the planning, organization, and implementation of a school-wide program for the supervision and control of students.
• Confers with pupils, parents, teachers, law enforcement officers, and representatives of social agencies to resolve serious pupil academic, attendance, and behavioral issues.
• Participates in the planning, organization, and supervision of the school's co-curricular and extracurricular programs.
• Assists in the assignment, supervision, and evaluation of substitute teachers and volunteers
• Assists the principal in interpreting the District and school education program to staff, parents, and community.
• Maintains and supports standards of personal conduct and discipline in accordance with the current school discipline policy approved by the Board of Trustees
• Confers with representatives of police, fire, probation, welfare departments, and other community agencies which provide support services in the community.
• Assists the principal in matters related to school security and school safety.
• Assists the principal in carrying out a human relations program which maintains middle school staff morale.
• Assists in the preparation of administrative reports.
• Prepares student expulsion cases for hearing and, as the administrative representative of the school, presents said cases at the hearing to an administrative panel.
• Assists in the ordering, distribution, and inventory control of instructional materials within the school.
• Attends assigned administrative meetings and serves on school and District-wide committees, as assigned.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Master’s degree and three (3) years teaching experience.

Certification/Credentials:

California Administrative Credential.

Work Year/Salary:

205 days per year at Range 12 of the District’s Certificated Management Salary Schedule.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,258.00 - $145,090.00 per year
