Assistant Student Activities Director jobs in Bergenfield, NJ

We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill our Activities Director role. This position will require functional knowledge of adult day care policies and procedures, as well as time-management skills and the ability to meet elder individual and group needs in a professional and patient manner. Candidates must be able to work well with the senior population and have experience with staff management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement program objectives, a procedure manual and an organizational plan
• Develop and post a monthly activities calendar
• Document assessments, treatment plans, evaluations and clinical notes
• Plan and develop as well as supervise and set up recreational programs
• Teach or lead a class, a special group, games or other activities
• Train and supervise staff to lead recreational activities such as games, fitness, arts and crafts, technology and music programs
• Invite, coordinate and supervise recreational program volunteers or contracted professionals
• Organize holiday, birthday and other special parties or programs
• Plan excursions or outings

Qualifications:

• Be certified or eligible for certification as an activity director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals OR
• Be certified or eligible for certification as a certified therapeutic recreation specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation OR
• A baccalaureate degree in recreation, creative arts therapy, music therapy, therapeutic recreation, art, art education, psychology, sociology, occupational therapy, gerontology or early education OR
• Served as activities director in a medical day care facility since 1990 OR
• A high school diploma and a minimum of three years of full time experience in activities in a licensed health care facility PLUS 90 hours of activity-profession-related training
