    POSITION SUMMARY: The Program Director for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) will report directly to the Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Director of Workforce Development. The Program Director of SYEP is responsible for providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for the participants enrolled in United Activities Unlimited Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Work, Learn, & Grow Program (WLG). The Program Director is responsible to direct and supervise all contractual obligations related to SYEP programming, including both summer and winter sessions. The Program Director’s overall tasks include but are not limited to; administrative duties, recruitment of participants; supporting, managing and training staff; creating staff schedules and managing their timecards; auditing participant and worksite documents; planning and implementing of programming; and managing partnerships with stakeholders. The Program Director of SYEP is required to travel often to work sites, within the Staten Island community, and in addition to, but not limited to, the New York City Metro area. The Program Director of SYEP is responsible for complying with all standards set forth by United Activities Unlimited and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD).

    · Serve as the primary UAU representative who is a liaison between, DYCD, New York city, State, and Federal agencies, other Community Based Organizations, Key Stakeholders, partnering High Schools and Middle Schools and private businesses.

    · Work closely with the Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Director of Workforce Development to create annual program plans, including processes, benchmarks, and goals including required deliverables.

    · Implementation and oversight of all phases of planning, designing, and delivery of high-quality programming for both the Summer Youth Employment Program and the Work, Learn & Grow Program.

    · Coordinate and supervise all phases of SYEP and WLG, including but not limited to: recruitment, enrollment, orientations job placement, internships, project-based learning, events and program close-out.

    · Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Director of Workforce Development, and the Human Resources Department to support hiring, onboarding, and training.

    · Manage, train, supervise, and support direct report employees, by providing verbal and written feedback, observation, coaching, and training. Coordinate and schedule one on one meetings with Program Coordinators, weekly and/ or monthly as required and as needed.

    · Develop project management systems to ensure compliance with all DYCD, DOE, and UAU standards.

    · Monitor the YEPS data management system and UAU internal systems to assess programmatic progress and initiate corrective actions as needed.

    · Work closely with the Director of Workforce Development, Assistant Director of Workforce Development, and Fiscal Department to manage program budgets, purchase orders submissions, and staffing plans.

    · Manage administrative functions in partnership with the Assistant Director of Workforce Administration, including but not limited to, employee timekeeping systems, electronic and physical filing systems, equipment, and technology systems.

    · Coordinate weekly team meetings and actively participate in meetings with DYCD, school partners, funders, and other stakeholders.

    · Assist the Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Director of Workforce Development with drafting and preparing grant applications, compliance reports, and accompanying financial documentation.

    · Attend external events and support external communications with a range of stakeholders, including funders, employers, local officials, service providers, and other partners.

    · Mediate and resolve issues with employees, participants, parents, partners, and other stakeholders.

    · Create opportunities for team building and program development within engaged communities.

    · Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    · Bachelor’s Degree required, Master's Degree preferred or a minimum of 7 years of experience managing large-scale social service programs.· A minimum of 5 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and performance-based government contracts; experience must demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, collaboration, project management, problem solving, and change management.· Minimum of 5 years’ experience with direct management of staff.

    · Experience managing a multi-faceted, fast-paced, time-sensitive, and demanding participant-focused and culturally responsive operation serving both internal and external constituents.

    · Successfully identifying, cultivating, and maintaining various stakeholder partnerships.

    · Strong leadership qualities and a demonstrated history of programmatic success.· Exceptional problem solving, mathematical skills, analytical, interpersonal, time-management and communications skills.

    · Advanced proficiency in standard office technology and software including Microsoft Office, Zoom, and G-Suite; working knowledge of graphic design programs and/or database software are a plus

    · Willingness to take direction from management, take initiative, and be flexible when needed.· Must be willing, capable and able to work flexible hours and travel citywide; to work additional hours as needed and attend meetings and/ or events in addition regular weekly schedule.· Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes.

    · Detail oriented with strong presentation, negotiation, conflict management, mediation, and group facilitation skills.

    · Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation experience to diverse audiences, demonstrated success communicating to a diverse team, ability to create professionally written content

    · Ability to listen and respond effectively to stakeholders' concerns and interests.

    · Demonstrates an understanding of and values individuals' different capacities, cultures, and abilities.

    · Respect for diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, academic, religious, and cultural backgrounds and identities.
