The Assistant Director of Student Financial Services will employ a student-focused vision and approach to plan, direct, and monitor the Bursar Office’s service delivery and operations at Bergen Community College. The successful candidate will manage student receivables and reconciliations, perform daily journal entries and financial reporting, and analyze variances and other financial matters to resolve related inquiries. The individual will demonstrate the ability to successfully implement and manage processes that enhance the College’s compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations pertaining to student finance. This position will evaluate cash flow for appropriateness to ensure fiscal solvency and accountability. The position will also create reports to foster a transparent view of spending, accounts receivable, and other critical financial analyses related to student financial services.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related experience; background with institution of higher education a strong plus.
Demonstrates understanding of the community college mission. Takes a collaborative approach to working with internal staff and other departments. Requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures in governmental agencies; principles and techniques of budget preparation, administration, statistical methods, technical writing, and related record keeping. Has intermediate proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite with advanced capabilities in Excel.
