    Job Description

    Direct recruitment and delivery of program services to 250 TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) participants. This position would be required to solely maintain grant compliance and the Annual Performance Report database to meet federal guidelines/deadlines; coordinate with ISU campus departments to ensure the success of TRIO SSS students; develop partnerships and collaborations between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs; work alongside the AVP of Access and Opportunity Programs to achieve grant objectives and overall ISU first-generation student goals. This position will supervise 2-full time advisors (Masters required), 1 full-time administrative assistant, 1 part-time AmeriCorps worker, and 25 college student employees (CPI, tutors, mentors, and front office). Maintain an advising caseload as necessary. This position includes working additional nights and weekends, and requires a clear background check, and a valid driver's license with the ability to drive state-issued vehicles to lead out-of-town grant scholarly activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervision and Management - (50% time spent)

    • Coordinates Advisors' schedules, including annual and sick leave approval, scheduling vacations, etc.
    • Assist staff in program development, which reflects grant objectives and the needs of the students.
    • Provides performance evaluation of staff.
    • Conducts public relations and represents the TRIO SSS program.
    • Provides feedback to staff about weekly activities and troubleshoots issues.
    • Will complete additional work assignments that come about because of program changes, USDOE changes or requests, and University changes or requests.
    • This position will oversee the curriculum development and implementation of TRIO SSS first-year transition courses for TRIO SSS participants.

    Grant Compliance- (40% time spent)

    • Ensure that all federal program activities under this position meet compliance with federal and university regulations including adherence to operational plans as outlined in federal grant proposals
      Develop strategies for determining student eligibility, methods of recruitment, and documentation and will analyze data to monitor student progress and evaluation of services.
    • Coordinates and supervises activities with Advisors to ensure a schedule of programs and school activities are developed, activities are implemented, time frames set, implementation of required services, coordination of student activities, career, cultural, and college events.
    • Interpreting policy for implementation.
    • Ensure that all federal program activities under this position meet yearly program objectives as outlined in the grant documents and regulations.
    • Preparation of Annual Performance Report, including monitoring project progress toward achieving objectives using Blumen software, documenting program performance and gathering information for the report, and submission of the report to USDOE.
    • Assist in the writing of the TRIO SSS grant in coordination with the AVP every five years to maintain continued funding.

    Budget Management- (10% time spent)

    • Manages the SSS grant budget.
    • Yearly budget submission and revision for the US Department of Education. 
    • Ensures staff meets their responsibilities with P-card purchases and travel card purchases.
    • Oversight of purchase and expense approvals.
    • Ensures travel guidelines are in compliance with university and grant guidelines for staff, individual students, and group student travel events.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Earned Masters in education or related field.
    • Demonstrated managerial skills to provide leadership in operations, budgeting, supervision, program development, and implementation, specifically in higher education and college access settings.
    • Experience in project and event management.
    • Experience interpreting and implementing federal grant legislation and regulations.
    • Training and/or experience working with limited-income, first-generation, and historically underserved communities.
    • Experience managing large data systems including data collection and reporting, and managing evaluation of grant programs.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to drive state vehicles for frequent grant participants events and activities.
       

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience writing and leading federal grants, specifically those serving college-level participants.
    • Ability to design and implement programming related to college readiness, career pathways, research design, and graduate school opportunities.
    • Experience working with technology systems such as student tracking database systems, Banner, Box, Google Suite, Zoom, Canva, Adobe Suites, and Microsoft Office.

    Additional Information

Salary will be $60,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
