Job Description:
Summary:
This position reports to the Director of Student Accounts. The primary focus of the Assistant Director is to support the Director with all administrative procedures that are necessary for the Student Accounts Unit to function in a standardized and efficient manner. The Student Accounts Unit is part of the Student Financial Services Office, which includes Financial Aid.
Duties:
- Provides backup and assistance for the Director as needed to ensure effective controls and proper practices are followed

Will interact with students, parents, and other offices regarding escalated student account issues

Will work with I.T. to help create reports that are needed by the office and work with them to help make the current reports more accurate

Will work on various projects as requested by the Director and as needed to continually make improvements to the office and our processes

Will manage Chatbot for the Student Accounts Office and will make updates as needed as information changes

Will collaborate with the Director to create, maintain, and update office policy and procedure manuals, assist in process mapping all procedures within the Student Accounts Office to determine efficiencies/failures and work with the Director to develop more efficient and functional processes

Manages all aspects from charging, billing, requesting residency documentation and collecting on students in special programs and new initiatives, including but not limited to Aviation Flight, Airframe Maintenance,
- Vassar Exchange students, housing students

Will meet with students and determine financial clearance for students in special cohorts that require clearance

Supervises, trains, motivates, evaluates, and disciplines student workers to ensure efficient and accurate customer service for a combined Student Accounts and Financial Aid office

Assists in creating training materials and coordinates and provides training as needed for all Student
- Financial Services staff

May work assigned late night and weekend sessions when required to lend support to enrollment efforts initiated by other campus offices

Requirements:
Required Education, Experience, and/or Training:
-
Associate's degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience
-
Previous experience working in a Student Accounts Office or a Financial Aid Office
-
Knowledge of accounting and familiarity with generally accepted accounting and auditing principles
-
Prior supervisory experience
-
Customer service experience

$66,778 and Administration
