    Empire State University is currently seeking an Assistant to the President. The Assistant to the President will serve as an integral member of the Office of the President and the university. Reporting to the President, the Assistant oversees the daily operations of the President's Office. In addition, the individual will be the President's main point of contact while the President is traveling for presidential logistical and administrative support needs.

    The Assistant to the President position requires the incumbent to cultivate a deep understanding and appreciation for the University and its strategic priorities and values. This is vital to supporting the President to be a successful communicator and leader.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Ability to work interact with executive-level administrators, external stakeholders, faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and other University stakeholders in a productive, positive, and professional manner.
    • Work with the President to ensure thoughts, concepts and meeting outcomes are followed through and implemented.
    • Ability to work independently and drive problem de-escalation and resolution in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Coordinate the President's schedule and travel arrangements.
    • Collaborate with internal and external offices with coordination of presidential meetings and events; support university-wide events as needed.
    • Work with appropriate division to resolve student and employee problems that are referred to the President's Office.
    • Interact with external constituents, such as legislators, SUNY administration, campus presidents, University Council and Foundation Board Members to arrange meetings and coordinate communications.
    • Serve as President's Office liaison on collaborative writing projects with the Office of Communications.
    • Work closely with the Office of Communications and with Marketing to develop and implement communications strategies that encompass the President's leadership positioning.
    • Collaborate with the Office of Communications and the Chief of Staff to develop and implement a formal and consistent communications briefing process for video messages, events, news release quotes and other messages needed from the President.
    • At the request of the President or Chief of Staff, coordinate with other offices on major projects/initiatives.
    • Support to the Office of Communications for events involving the attendance of the president.

    Job Requirements:


    Required Qualifications:

    • Associate degree from an accredited college or university, or a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience.
    • A minimum three years of experience supporting high level administrators or executives.
    • Exceptional communication skills.
    • Experience with coordinating complex schedules and travel arrangements.
    • Experience with collaborating to develop executive level communications communication strategy.
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Experience in higher education.
    • Experience with event organization and logistics, from conceptualization to implementation.

    Special Information:

    • This position is located in Saratoga Springs, NY.
    • Occasional travel, evenings and weekends will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.
    • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Additional Information:


    Rank/Salary:
    $80,000-$95,000, dependent on qualifications and experience.
