    The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in managing and directing the accounting activities for our retail chain of 5 stores, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, compliance, asset management, and financial relationships. Reporting to the President, the Accounting Manager will lead a small team of accounting professionals as well as overseeing our integrated accounting partner (FMS) to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations.


    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and manage the Accounts Payable Manager and Accounts Payable Clerk, and Store Bookkeepers providing guidance, support, and training to ensure smooth operations of all accounting functions. 
    • Working with Store Bookkeeper’s, oversee the accounts receivable process, including billing, collections, and reconciliation of customer accounts, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions.
    • Lead the general ledger management with Kessler’s team and FMS, ensuring proper recording of transactions, preparation of journal entries, and reconciliation of accounts.
    • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities, including review of all bank reconciliation by FMS and analysis of financial data.
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.
    • Collaborate with Kessler Leadership Team & FMS to address accounting issues and inquiries.
    • Cultivate and maintain banking relationships, overseeing banking activities, including loan & financing management, cash management, deposits, and reconciliations.
    • Manage all assets, including maintaining depreciation schedules and ensuring accurate recording and reporting of asset-related transactions.
    • Collaborate with tax advisors and CPAs to ensure compliance with tax regulations, provide necessary documentation and support for tax filings, and implement tax strategies to minimize liabilities.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field is required. 
    • Proven experience in AP/AR preferably in the retail industry.
    • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Pay: $85,000 - $110,000 Depending on Experience
