    Your Opportunity

    We are seeking one exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team to work on a project site in Snyder in Scurry County, Texas. This position is available in April and will run through mid-November 2024. Field work for this position includes:

    • Working 40 hours per week,
    • the possibility for seasonal overtime,
    • a field vehicle provided,
    • and per diems.

    There is some flexibility regarding day-to-day schedule so long as all the surveying is accomplished in an appropriate timeframe. The field work is close to Ira, TX so residence in Midland or nearby is required.

    Salary will be commensurate with experience.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct post-construction mortality surveys for birds and bats at an operating wind facility.
    • Perform and document field data collection activities while working independently in the field. Day-to-day work is conducted solo.
    • Learn and follow standard operating procedures for work assigned, while continuing to develop skills.
    • Follow strict data collection and reporting protocols.
    • Using GPS via iPad.
    • Technicians will be required to follow all wind facility-specific and Stantec safety protocols and will be expected to provide their own suitable footwear (6” ankle hiking boots) and weather appropriate field gear. Other job-specific field equipment and protective equipment will be provided, as well as training.

    • Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day.

    • Organized and capable of following detailed instructions.
    • Must have the willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work in rural wilderness settings.
    • Applies logic and technical capabilities to resolve technical issues in an effective manner.
    • Conscientious, organized, and disciplined.
    • Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required), and demonstrates use and understanding of these policies and procedures as appropriate to their work.
    • Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships within their technical team, Business Center, and region
    • The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set in multiple environmental disciplines and a passion for lifelong learning.
    • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required. Experience driving 4x4 vehicles, or off-road, preferred.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline preferred.
    • Must have a professional and academic background in biology or natural resources.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Previous experience utilizing iPads and must be comfortable with computers, tablets, and GPS units.
    • Ability to identify birds (including raptors) of Texas is a plus.

    Field work will include walking long distances and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
