Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Biology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Candidates with a Ph.D. (completed or near completion) in Biological Sciences or a closely related field are eligible to apply for a tenure-track position; final rank and tenure status will be determined by the Provost upon successful completion of the interview process.     Responsibilities and opportunities:

    This position is open to all areas of specialization in the field Biological science. Individuals are particularly encouraged to apply whose training is integrative (e.g., plant pathology, infectious diseases, environmental microbiology and/or bioinformatics/genomics) and special consideration will be given to applicants with data science experience. The successful applicant will participate in duties related to the instruction of both lecture and laboratory for a variety of lower- and upper-level biology courses including but not limited to a first year introduction to research course as well as one or more of the following courses: Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Virology or Plant Pathology (see the NWU Course Catalog for department course details). Preferred applicants will display a commitment to undergraduate experiences through innovative teaching practices, visions for global experiences, and the facilitation of undergraduate research.
