We work with University hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and recruiting partners.Job DescriptionDescription:The Radiology Medical Device Microbiology Laboratory supports manufacturing operations for two high-volume medical device manufacturing sites.The lab is responsible for environmental monitoring, bioburden testing, endotoxin testing, and other tasks in support of manufacturing and product release.The laboratory is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and efficiency.Summary:The Microbiologist a functional resource to internal and external customers for New Product and Change Control projects affecting product microbiology (including, but not limited to: bacterial endotoxin testing, bioburden testing, biocompatibility, controlled environments, and sterilization).The Microbiologist develops, validates, and implements new test methods; performs bioburden, endotoxin and environmental testing; and mentors and trains laboratory technicians.Reviews and approves laboratory records. Tracks and trends data; identifies adverse trends and reacts accordingly. Performs root cause investigations and implements corrective actions for microbiological non-conformances. Works under minimal direction and uses judgment to make the correct decisions. Presents data and information to management.Regularly applies knowledge of USP, ISO, and AAMI Sterilization, Microbiology, Cleanroom, and Biocompatibility standards and guidelines.Able to identify which industry practices, standards, guidelines and regulations apply to Bayer Radiology.Responsibilities:Test method development, validation, and implementationProcess / Equipment ValidationProject Work (Including Collaboration with Other Teams)SME in Microbiology Testing for NPD projectsRecord ReviewData analysis, trending, and reporting to managementMicroorganism identification using BioLog systemData analysisTrendingMetricsRisk assessmentTesting Activities (As Needed)Environmental MonitoringWater SamplingWater Bioburden TestingProduct Bioburden TestingSample Preparation for Bioburden and Endotoxin TestingProduct Endotoxin TestingWater Endotoxin TestingTest Protocol, Report, and Procedure writing and revisionOther duties as assignedRequirement(s):Bachelor of Science in Biology, Microbiology, or related discipline.Minimum of 3 - 5 years full-time relevant work experience in microbiologyWork experience must be in pharmaceutical, biologics, cosmetics, or medical device industry.Demonstrated problem-solving ability, including root cause investigations for microbiology test excursions.Must demonstrate ability to work independently as well as with teams.Preferences:Certified Microbiologist (NRCM).Expertise in microbiological test method development and validation.Expertise in sterilization for medical devices, including e-beam, gamma, and ethylene oxideExpertise in cleanroom and controlled environment design and operation.Knowledge of purified water systems design and operation.Ability to train manufacturing employees on cleanroom behavior and techniques.Experience in autoclave and other microbiology lab equipment validation.Experience with spreadsheet and computerized systems validation.Additional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
