Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Communication provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Communication typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Description

    The Media & Strategic Communication Department at Iona University seeks a talented candidate to fill a full-time position, teaching 12 credits (four three-credit courses) per term, beginning August 2024, at the rank of either Clinical Lecturer or Visiting Professor.

     

    The successful applicant is expected to have at least a Master’s degree to qualify at the level of Clinical Lecturer or a terminal degree (ABD also considered) for the rank of Visiting Professor. The aspiring candidate should also be able to teach in at least three of the following areas: Introduction to Media & Strategic Communication, Digital Literacy (involving applied skills in Photoshop and other software tools), Digital Media Production, and Public Relations. Professional experience in one of the Department’s two concentration areas, which include public relations, and television and film production, is also preferred.
