Assoc. Professor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer science. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.   • General Summary

    This is a full-time teaching and student-leadership position in the Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) department. The CIS faculty member serves to instruct students and actively contributes to program growth. The CIS department aims to be the best in the nation, and faculty excellence in all respects is pivotal to fulfilling that vision.

    Specific Position Duties

    1. Exhibits enthusiasm for student success and pursuing programmatic excellence; 2. Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field and aligns coursework to industry-standards; 3. Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college; 4. Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners; 5. Provides students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.; 6. Administers tests which are appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall grasp of course objectives; 7. By various ways and means of instructing students, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn; 8. Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity; 9. Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings, labs, and any other scheduled instructional activities; 10. Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner; 11. Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means; 12. Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the department chair; 13. Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the department chair; 14. Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community; 15. Maintains individual student advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements; 16. Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for department programs; and, 17. Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master’s Degree or higher in Computer Science,
    Information Systems, or related field or
    Master’s Degree or higher and 18 graduate hours in
    Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $57,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
