Description
The Department of Teacher Education at Hastings College is accepting applications for a tenure-track position. This is a full-time, residential (in-person) teaching position starting in August 2024.
This position includes teaching elementary coursework with a priority for teaching elementary science, math, and/or reading methods coursework. Faculty will also assist with teaching some of the introductory coursework for all education majors. Additional courses could include assessment or technology integration depending on the applicant's experiences and expertise. The Hastings College Teacher Education Department has one of the larger majors on campus and a respected and successful field-based program to prepare highly effective and impactful teachers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teaching, 24 credit hours per academic year.
Advising and mentoring students majoring in education.
Supervising students in field experiences, including the student teaching semester.
Developing course syllabi and curriculum.
Working in a professional, collegial, and team-oriented manner within the Teacher Education Department and campus community.
Maintaining compliance with policies and procedures within the Teacher Education Program.
Serving and participating in department and campus committee work
Qualifications:
Education - PhD or EdD, or significant progress toward the terminal degree, in education or related field. A candidate with a master's degree could be considered with expertise and experience in the related field.
Certification – Hold, or have held, valid state teaching certification, preferably in Nebraska.
Experience – Requires a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in PK-12 accredited schools.
Exhibit potential for teaching excellence, knowledge of emerging trends in the field, and a working knowledge of how students learn.
