    Detailed Position Information
    The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities at the University of Alabama invites applications for Associate/Full Professor in Special Education. The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities (SPEMA) prepares future teachers to serve as reflective decision makers in instructional settings for exceptional learners. A successful candidate will join an active research and teaching faculty, as well as a vibrant student community. The Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities, along with the College of Education, is firmly committed to creating a welcoming professional community that emphasizes equity and inclusivity and recognizes, values, and promotes diverse identities and perspectives.

    Responsibilities:
    * Maintain an active research agenda and publication record
    * Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
    * Advise undergraduate and graduate students
    * Supervise practicum and internship experiences
    * Work collaboratively with other colleges within the University
    * Seek external funds
    * Serve (and chair at the Associate/Full level) on dissertation committees

    Minimum Qualifications
    * Earned doctorate in special education or a very closely related field
    * Evidence of scholarly output for the ranks of Associate and Full Professor or potential productivity for Assistant professor level
    * Three years of intervention or teaching experience in K-12th grade settings
    * Commitment to research and teaching that supports diverse populations
