Assoc. Professor - Environmental Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of environmental engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Environmental Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Environmental Engineering typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Duties:

    Responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratory courses within the Environmental Engineering Department and in other Engineering Departments as required. The focus areas for teaching are environmental process engineering, energy and sustainability, pollution prevention, Industrial ecology, water and wastewater treatment. and other courses as required. The candidate also is required to conduct research and actively collaborate with other on campus and off campus researchers and industrial facilities. The candidate also expected to be flexible in teaching courses beyond their expertise, at times, when required. The candidate must be able to mentor undergraduate research students, master’s level graduate students and doctoral level graduate students. The candidate will also be responsible to provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students and help them in their career and job placement.  The candidate also be responsible to actively participate in the ABET accreditation activities of the program. The individual must be able to initiate and sustain sponsored research projects.

    Required Qualifications:
    • PhD in Environmental/Chemical/Civil Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
    • Professional Engineering License or capability to obtain a PE license
    • Minimum one year of college level teaching experience
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • PhD in Environmental/Chemical/Civil Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline with work experience
    • Proven teaching record of excellence, more than one year
    • Proven research record with successful externally funded projects
    Physical Demands
    • Regular laboratory equipment handling, and handling of equipment for field work related to teaching and research.
