Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - History provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - History typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. The Department of History at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenured Professor or advanced Associate Professor, to begin in the fall of academic year 2024-25. The position is intended for candidates with an interest in promoting the study of Texas and Southwest borderlands history and a demonstrated ability to communicate academically rigorous historical findings to the public. Qualified applicants will be considered for appointment as holder of an endowed professorship.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in History, and demonstrate expertise in the history of Texas or the Southwest, a record of peer-reviewed research commensurate with rank, and a strong record of teaching at an accredited university. Preferred qualifications include a distinguished record of scholarship, contributions to public scholarship, and promotion of scholarship in and the study of Texas history.
The committee will begin reviewing applications on September 31, 2023 and continue until the position is filled.
