Assoc. Professor - History teaches courses in the discipline area of history. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - History provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - History typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Part-time, non-exempt, 24 hours/week

    Rate: $18/hour

    Paid time off and sick leave

    Summary:

    Responsible for building and maintaining connections with schools, educators, and local educator groups; managing education assistants; and planning, scheduling, and facilitating museum education programs.

    · Schedule and facilitate museum field trips, classroom visits, and virtual programs for schools/teachers.

    · Schedule and facilitate early childhood and homeschool programs.

    · Work with Director of Engagement and Learning to develop and run family programs.

    · Train and supervise student assistants/interns working on education or family programs.

    · Build and maintain relationships with educators and school systems; work with communications staff (as time permits) to grow awareness of educational programming.

    · Assist with grant projects.

    · Other duties as assigned.

    Skills/Abilities:

    · Management: ability to support peers and manage subordinates.

    · Time Management: ability to manage time/work schedule of self and subordinates.

    · Organization: ability to organize and maintain schedules, reservation systems, and manage multiple projects.

    · Communication: ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and in a timely way with a variety of constituents who are inside and outside the workplace, including students, teachers, parents, volunteers, museum staff.

    Experience/Education:

    · High School graduate or equivalent.

    · College degree or current enrollment.

    · Training and/or experience in childhood education.

    Other Skills/Qualifications:

    · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    · Ability to work effectively as part of a high-functioning team.

    · Ability to coordinate with museum’s curriculum specialist and follow lesson plans.

    · Enthusiasm for working with children and their adults.

    · Strong attention to detail.

    · Interest in history and museums.

    · Vaccinated against COVID-19.

    · Willing to wear protective masks when required.

    Reports to: Director of Engagement and Learning

    Supervises: Volunteers, education assistants, interns

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: From $18.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 24 per week
