Assoc. Professor - Liberal Arts teaches courses in the discipline area of liberal arts. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Liberal Arts provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Liberal Arts typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.   • JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chair or Director of the academic program, adjunct faculty receive a contract or letter stating adjunct employment with a primary responsibility in teaching. Faculty members assess, plan, implement and evaluate instruction for students in clinical and classroom settings or laboratories in coordination with established course and program objectives.

    • Pre-Art Therapy
    • Visual Arts Education

    Major Responsibilities/Activities

    • Adheres to all applicable university academic and employment policies identified in the Employee and Faculty handbooks and academic catalogs
    • Respects the moral and religious beliefs of the university and students; uses discretion when expressing personal beliefs and views
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Director

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in field from an accredited university (with substantial experience/professional experience) required.
    • Masters or graduate degree in the field of study preferred.

    Experience

    • One to two year’s teaching or training experience preferred.
    • Two to three year’s professional experience within the field preferred.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Demonstrates an understanding of educational theory, instructional methods and evaluation technique and use of technology utilized in higher education in a classroom setting.
    • Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives.
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents.
