    Title: Athletic Trainer - Pike Liberal Arts

    Location: Troy, AL

    Status: Full-time

     

    Individual responsible for assisting in the treatment of patients. Overall treatment of patients will include written and hands on execution of plan of care of patients, as determined by the treating Physical Therapist. Ongoing treatment with patients through all phases of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. 


    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Ensure every patient receives a thorough & comprehensive customized training regimen, while receiving a unique experience.
    • Working under a Physical Therapist, provide a written and hands on evaluation of incoming patient conditions to determine appropriate treatment programs.
    • Provide initial evaluations with Worker’s Compensation patients.
    • Develop and implement treatment programs based on each patient's particular needs.
    • Assist patients with all phases of Athletic Training and techniques to include: - stretches (manual assistance by ATC, and patient self-directed). - strengthening exercises - agilities/functional drills - simulation of job specific exercises, as appropriate - manual therapy - modalities
    • Discuss treatment with patients and record patient conditions and responses to treatments in charts after each visit, reviewing with Physical Therapist.
    • Prepare patient care/progress notes and other required forms as requested by treating physicians or insurance, co-signed with staff Physical Therapist.
    • Provide continuous communication with Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapists regarding patient therapy and equipment.
    • Communicate with Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapists regarding re-evaluation findings to continually modify and update treatment programs.
    • Operate and apply knowledge of standard Athletic Training equipment.
    • Compose discharge notes for patients, and refer to appropriate outside sources as necessary.
    • Follow-up with discharged patients, maintaining Company’s service standards.
    • Ensure daily treatment evaluations for all patients are complete prior to end of day, and reviewed by Physical Therapist.
    • Document treatments rendered on billing sheets and in appropriate patient charts. Ensure billing amounts on treatment sheets match billing sheets and that all units of treatment are accounted for.
    • Ensure billing forms are accurate and complete prior to submission to billing department.
    • Ensure all patients are discharged with a positive outcome or have been proactively referred to the next step to address limitations and /or complaints originally presented.
    • Participate in monthly meetings with Clinic Director to review productivity and review patient comment cards.
    • Provide direct care of athletic injuries during practices, assigned games and scrimmages.
    • Refer needed treatments to appropriate facilities and physicians.
    • Arrange and contact patients/physicians for fitting of specialized protective athletic equipment as needed.
    • Communicate with coaches, parents, Athletic Director and other health care professionals regarding status of injured athletes and expected date of return to competition after completion of rehabilitation treatments.
    • Document all reported injuries in appropriate records log.
    • Supervise and train Student Athletic Trainers/Work Study Students assigned to athletic training room / clinic.

    • The ability to build and maintain confidence and credibility with all clients and employees.

    Non-Essential Functions:

    • Communicate with potential referral sources to expand existing business and cultivate new business.
    • Maintain current knowledge of Athletic Trainer roles and continuing trends in the industry.
    • Assist in conducting Sports Performance Outreach.
    • Certain ATCs within our organization may be called upon to do the duties of an athletic instructor.
    • Attend continuing educational courses to obtain advanced clinical skills.
    • Maintain cleanliness of clinic and treatment areas.
    • Assist in answering phones and providing intake forms to new patients.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Oversee Technicians is setting up modalities 

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Education: Successful completion of four academic years of pre-professional and professional study in a specialized curriculum accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, certified by the Board of Certification of the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.
    • Appropriate state licensure, certification or registration (per state requirements), current, and in good standing.
