General Summary: The Fellow/Administrative Resident provides support to the organization through the completion of assigned duties/responsibilities and projects. Under direction of the CEO or COO member/mentor, the fellow/resident will collect, synthesize and analyze data from various sources to make recommendations and take action related to a specified area(s) of the business. Projects will be assigned with the intent of the fellow/resident developing their knowledge, skills and experience related to different areas of physician practice administration in order to test and apply theory into practical work situations. Fellow/resident will be exposed to various positions in the organization to ensure a well-rounded experience
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Develops and maintains knowledge of the physician practice/healthcare environment, including the ability to understand and explain issues and advancements within the healthcare industry.
2. Utilizes economics and statistical methods to understand and apply the basic principles of economics, statistics, and epidemiology to health care issues.
3. Develops the ability to understand the legislative and bioethical environment and effectively participate in discussions relating to health policy and healthcare ethics at the local, state, and
federal levels.
4. Develops the ability to understand the importance of population health and the influence population health management has on a healthcare organization
5. Utilizes critical thinking and analysis to understand a situation, issue, or problem by breaking it into smaller pieces or tracing its implications in a step-by-step way.
6. Applies complex concepts, develops creative solutions, or adapts previous solutions in new ways.
7. Develops ability to understand and explain financial and accounting information, prepare and
manage budgets, and make sound long-term investment decisions.
8. Demonstrates the ability to implement staff development and other management practices that represent contemporary best practices, complies with legal regulatory requirements, develops ability to optimize the performance of the workforce, including performance assessments, alternative compensation and benefit methods, and the alignment of human resource practices and processes to meet the strategic goals of the organization.
9. Establishes, builds, and sustains professional contacts for the purpose of building networks of
people with similar goals and that support similar interests.
10. Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Healthcare related field, Business
Administration, or Finance/Accounting preferred.
Experience: Previous experience working in healthcare required; physician practice setting preferred
