Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     This position will support the Department of Family & Community Medicine's education and training mission of residents, fellows and medical students. This position will work to develop new programs and enhance existing programs throughout the department. Responsibilities in the clinical department will be a combination of patient care, research and teaching activities.

    Examples of Duties

    ADMINISTRATION (100%)

    A. Serves as the Associate Chair for Graduate Medical Education for the Department of Family and Community Medicine. 2 B. Keeps informed of all ACGME requirements and changes and ensures the residency program directors through the Department are aware of new or revised guidelines. C. Assists with the development of practice management reports for resident productivity and adapting those reports to changes that occur with ACGME guidelines. D. Researches educational grant opportunities for the Department that will enhance residency education throughout the programs. E. Works with the program directors to assess the needs for fellowship programs or expansion of residency programs and then works directly with the SOM Graduate Medical Education Office to apply and implement new programs. F. Assesses the need for new residency programs throughout central and southern Illinois. Develops and implements those programs with the Chair of the Department. G. Oversees Department required conferences for residency education including but not limited to Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, Practice Management and Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder. H. In collaboration with the Program Directors, works to enhance the education of all learners. I. Maintains effective relationships with community providers to enhance educational opportunities for department learners.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must have 8 years experience as a Program Director. 2. Doctorate or terminal degree 3. Residency training and completed board certification in Family Medicine 4. Must currently be a family medicine physician within the Department of Family and Community Medicine. 5. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
