Educational Sales Representative (Cedar Falls)

  • The Opportunity:

    The Education Sales (Road) Representative is an outside sales position that serves music educators by helping them select merchandise, assisting them throughout the sales process, and by routinely providing follow-up service for their ongoing school music needs. An integral part of West Music in meeting our mission of “Play now. Play for life” our Road Representatives are the face of West Music for our school music customers. By building personal connections and developing and maintaining strong business relationships with school Music Directors/Instructors, our Road Representatives will be responsible for meeting sales goals, generating business for our local repair shops, and providing educational opportunities for potential school music customers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement an effective sales strategy to achieve sales targets and expand customer base

    • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction
    • Coordinate with the marketing team to execute marketing initiatives
    • Represent West Music at educational conferences, tradeshows, and other events
    • Work closely with other teams to ensure customers’ needs are met and to keep our product line relevant
    • Organize and conduct school rental events that include:
      1. Scheduling events,
      2. Educating customers about the benefits of working with West Music through individual and group presentations,
      3. Assisting Directors in instrument testing/selection.
    • Perform administrative duties including generating/processing paperwork for sales, rentals, and repairs.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and conferences, reviewing industry publications, and establishing personal networks.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Must have knowledge and playing experience with band or orchestra instruments. Solid knowledge of musical instrument brands, accessories, and printed music required

    • A Bachelor's degree in education, business or related field

    • Minimum 3-5 years sales experience, particularly in educational sales
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets and performance metrics
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to build rapport with clients and understand their needs

    Nice-to-Haves:

    • Prior experience in a music education environment
    • Robust network within the educational sector
    • Bilingual communication skills
