Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Music provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Music typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Teach music education courses at the undergraduate and graduate (summer only program) levels for music education majors, with a desired focus in secondary instrumental. Serve as academic advisor, supervise music education field experiences, serve as University Supervisor for student teachers, and develop local school partnerships along with other music education faculty. Participate in evaluation of curriculum and implementation of research-based pedagogies in music education program. Supervise Summer MME Capstone research projects. Engage in programs and school recruitment activities. Maintain an active research/creative activity agenda. Other duties, including ensemble conducting responsibilities, based on candidate’s background, abilities, and expertise.
