    The University of Hawaii at Manoa Nancy Atmospera-Walch School of Nursing (UHM NAWSON) invites qualified applicants for one (1) tenure-track, 11 month, faculty position. Specific priorities include undergraduate and graduate nursing education and research in support of the school's research focus on reducing health disparities and improving health outcomes for Native Hawaiian and other underserved populations. The position will also support nursing mentorship for ‘IKE AO PONO which has successfully achieved the historic graduation of over 500 Native nurses who now contribute to workforce diversity in both clinical and community health settings, with a focus on improving health for at-risk, underserved and marginalized peoples and communities. Continuous recruitment; 1st review begins on April 3, 2024; review of applications will continue until position is filled.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Teach assigned courses in the undergraduate and/or graduate program.  
    2. Provide nursing focused academic and professional mentorship to the ‘IKE AO PONO students.
    3. Conduct professional/scientific research.
    4. Maintain an active research program.
    5. Provide service to the school, university, profession, and community.
    6. Perform other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    1. Doctorate degree from an accredited program with a research dissertation completed in nursing or a field relevant to the research and scholarship interests of the UHM NAWSON;
    2. Hold a current (or be eligible for) unrestricted RN license to practice in Hawaii;
    3. Demonstrated ability as a teacher;
    4. Demonstrated scholarly achievement;
    5. Poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Coursework in curriculum development and health sciences education.
    • Certification or eligibility in advanced practice nursing.
    • Demonstrated scholarly interest and work relevant to the field of Native Hawaiian or indigenous health.
    • Demonstrated competency in interdisciplinary team work and team science.
    • Demonstrated experience in extramurally funded research.
    • Scientific peer-reviewed publications in major journals.
    • Experience with nursing or healthcare technology based simulation education.
