Internship Overview: Pharmaceutical Technology Intern
The Pharmaceutical Technology Intern will play a pivotal role in our pharmaceutical development team, focusing on the nintedanib inhalation project slated to enter Phase 2 clinical study in late 2024. This internship offers a unique opportunity to delve into pharmaceutical technology, formulation development, and process optimization within a cutting-edge research environment. The successful candidate will learn under the guidance of our expert's material properties, formulation rationale and process requirements, working mechanisms of equipment and analytical instruments, as well as the overall pharmaceutical development process.
Responsibilities:
- Formulation Development: Understand the rationale of the current nintedanib formulation including raw material properties and the working principles of unit operations.
- Process gap analysis: Understand the gaps between the existing lab process and the required clinical scales. Identify areas that require further development/studies. Learn study design, execution, data collection, and analysis for process improvement. Contribute to process optimization, including Technosphere manufacturing, suspension manufacturing, and spray drying.
- Quality Attribute Enhancement: Understand target critical product quality attributes and related critical process parameters. Collaborate on addressing challenges related to improving drug product quality attributes.
- Experimental Design and Execution: Participate in designing and executing carefully planned studies to enhance process understanding and improve product quality under guidance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations. Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs. Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical technology, formulation principles, and processes.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
