The Department of Arts, Languages, & Philosophy at Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for a full time, non-tenure-track position in French at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, to begin in the fall 2024. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track position, renewable yearly based on enrollments and strong performance reviews, and may be eligible for promotion after meeting certain conditions.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate-level French courses, contribute to strengthening our department's Modern Language program, and fully engage in the life of our diverse, multidisciplinary department. The typical teaching load will be four three-credit courses per semester, usually taught in person, though some courses are occasionally taught online, depending on qualifications and departmental needs. Additional responsibilities of this position will include relevant service activities, e.g., undergraduate advising. Position also entails coordinating the department's French language program, which includes the following duties: select materials and design course syllabi for French language and culture courses; advise and consult with other faculty on that process for other languages offered by the department; generate interest in French language among current and prospective students to help build and sustain enrollments; represent the French language program at appropriate venues.
It is expected that the successful candidate will achieve a sustained level of recognition by students and peers as an effective educator, as well as develop effective learning materials and implement impactful multimodal teaching methods.
