Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Psychology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     CobbFendley is seeking a SUE Field Technician in our El Paso, Texas office. 


    QUALIFICATIONS

    The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include the following.

    • Entry level of experience in Air and Hydro Vacuum Excavation (SUE Locating), preferred.
    • Entry level of understanding of utility locating methods such as buried telephone, fiber optic cable, coaxial cable, power (electric), gas, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, etc., preferred.
    • Entry level of experience in reading and interpreting DOT, municipal, and other plans/prints to identify type and size of underground utilities.
    • Vac truck experience preferred.
    • Valid Driver’s License required.
    • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) a plus.
    • Survey experience a plus.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

    • Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities via all quality levels within prescribed quality/accuracy limits.
    • Perform Level A (QL-A) SUE locating via nondestructive techniques (i.e., digging potholes and soil excavation, etc.) with a high-pressure air/hydro wand, concrete saws, core drills, and vacuum hose systems to determine precise horizontal, vertical position, size, and type of underground utilities. 
    • Perform Level B (QL-B) SUE designating via electromagnetic equipment (pipe/cable locators) to determine existence and horizontal position of underground utilities.  Perform Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning when included as part of the scope. Document estimated electronic depth (ED) readings.
    • Document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and/or video. Perform video inspections of sewers when necessary.
    • May perform Level C (QL-C) SUE, including surveying existing visible utilities, manholes, valve boxes, etc. 
    • May perform Level D (QL-D) SUE, including reaching out to utility reps to obtain existing utility records. 
    • Record accurate documentation/sketches of underground utility field data using CF’s online GIS based mapping software.
    • Operate large profile vehicles with/without attached trailers, and perform vehicle maintenance. 
    • Report punctually to work as scheduled and be dependable with attendance. 
    • May cross-train to perform other field services (Survey, Telecommunications, etc.) 
    • Travel is a mandatory requirement of the role as assigned. The percentage of travel will fluctuate based on business needs and at times may account for 40% of the time worked. Travel includes to other offices or project sites throughout the US.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
    • Train to meet company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
    • Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product.
    • Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
    • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

    • Physical mobility in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other field assignments.
    • Physical mobility including but not limited to hand-eye coordination, steadiness, upper/lower body strength, control precision, stamina, multilimbed coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, oral comprehension and expression, and depth perception.
    • Alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high volume average daily traffic.
    • Ability to lift, carry, and balance equipment & supplies (up to 50 pounds) in remote, rural, or urban surroundings.
    • Walking and climbing on uneven surfaces.
    • Climbing in and out of a vehicle multiple times a day and driving for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders.
    • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
    • Mobility within the warehouse (between floors and workstations), high-traffic areas, and walk surfaces.
    • Repeated motions (i.e., reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling/crawling, squatting, twisting, climbing, head tilting and handling).
    • Communication with other employees and clients.
    • Work up to 12 hours or more per day, when necessary.
    • Work in remote locations at project sites across the U.S.

     

    ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

    • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments (approximately 80% of duties to be performed outdoors in the field and 20% are performed indoors in the office/warehouse).
    • Exposure to extreme weather conditions (i.e., hot and freezing temperatures).
    • Use of pneumatic power tools, cutting tools and other equipment.
    • Exposure to noise and vibrations.
    • Exposure to including but not limited to poison ivy, sumac, cedar, pollen, dust, dirt, mud, common air quality pollution, etc.
    • Exposure to rodents, snakes and insects.
    • Exposure to construction and traffic work zones.
    • Extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.

    EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST/local time zone.
    • This position may include the need for overtime hours.
    • This position’s hours fluctuate based on department needs.
