    Job Description: Supervise Ultrasound departments in all locations and may perform patient exams when necessary.
    Reports To: Chief Outpatient Operations Officer, Imaging Services Manager
    Supervision Exercised: Ultrasound Technologists
    Education and Experience: Current ARDMS, OBMI and CPR certification required. Minimum OB/GYN and Abdomen, Breast and RVT registries preferred along with current CE’s. 5-7 years ultrasound scanning experience required. Experience in the supervision of ultrasound department or personnel preferred.
    Essential Duties: This position requires regular, reliable attendance. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, as the consequences of even a minor mistake can be significant for patients and providers. Other duties as assigned.
    • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations:
      • Uses cognitive ultrasound skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
      • Uses independent judgment during the ultrasound exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
      • Analyzes ultrasound information, medical history, and communicates finding to appropriate physician.
      • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patient while they are in the ultrasound technologist’s care.
    • Acts as the first point of contact for daily problems both technical (IT/Equipment) and with personnel within the department. Escalates issues to appropriate management as needed, i.e. Imaging Service Manager, Chief Outpatient Operations Officer, Human Resources.
    • Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problem.
    • Participates in personnel actions such as hiring, coaching, discipline, promotions, training, and terminations.
    • Responsible for annual performance evaluation of all ultrasound staff.
    • Coordinates the ultrasound department’s technical operations to ensure prompt and efficient care; including but not limited to staffing analysis, exam time and scheduling templates.
    • Maintains documentation to ensure compliance. This could include protocols for ACR best practices, CORA regulations, and/or Federal and State guidelines.
    • In coordination with US Supervising Physician, develop and keep current all protocols related to Ultrasound. Disseminate any new or updated protocols.
    • Uses metrics and analytics to manage and quality in the Ultrasound department.
      • Daily QA
      • Spot check for accuracy, and procedural processes
      • Trending and tracking of tech QA completed by interpreting physician.
    • Understands and keeps current with all department workflow and systems.
    • Ensures that all processes are standardized and documented.
    • Provide support to Ultrasound staff, and serve as the point of contact for other departments, with problems that occur throughout the daily operations. Promote a team approach by positively interacting with other staff.
    • Supports administrative decisions, direction, and goals in a positive manner.
    • Manages time off requests and performs time punch detail monitoring; includes missed punches and overtime management and technologist call outs.
    • Maintains regular communication with department personnel such as regular meetings as well as regular communication with Administration.
    • Develops training programs, including new hire acclimation, and keeps abreast of new procedures and equipment.
    • Supports and assists with implementation of new equipment and software, including training.
    • Participates in Clinical Supervisor meetings.
    • Must be able to lift without assistance up to 10 pounds.
