    Job Summary

    Perform office and clerical duties for the Department of Sociology head, faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students. The incumbent must prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines to complete work timely and proficient.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Office Support
      • General office work including filing, copying, answering telephones, and conference room reservations
      • Distribute US and Campus Mail and assist faculty, staff, and students with Campus Ship
      • Serve as the Unified Communications coordinator for the department’s telephone needs
      • Department liaison to Facilities and Services
      • Manage building access, key inventory, distribution, and ICard security access to Lincoln Hall and the Sociology Suite for the department
      • Manage all aspects of requesting course evaluations from faculty and Teaching Assistants each semester
      • Set up access for faculty, staff, and graduate students’ personal pages on the Sociology website
      • Assist faculty, staff, and graduate students with AV equipment and use of technology within department conference rooms and offices
      • Investigate and resolve computer and copier/printer-related problems with faculty, staff, and graduate students
      • Liaise with Atlas for technical issues, follow up to confirm problems are resolved, and coordinate purchasing of computer hardware, software, and other needs for the department
      • Manage the scheduling, checking out, maintenance, and repair/upkeep of department space and equipment
      • Assist with coordinating meetings and event preparations for the department, spring convocation, and events for new students as needed by the Undergraduate Advisor
      • Other duties as assigned, to further the mission of the department
    • Purchasing
      • Assist with making approved travel arrangements and purchases for faculty, staff, and graduate students with TCard, PCard, and iBuy
      • Manage the department supplies inventory and the purchasing of supplies through iBuy or other vendors
      • Assist with reimbursements for faculty, staff, students, and outside visitors to the Sociology Department
    • Inventory
      • Maintain inventory database via Fabweb; conduct physical inventory on a bi-annual basis.
      • Ensure required items have P-tags
      • Manage the process of transferring items, including unused and broken equipment for surplus or disposal

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the categories below:
    A. College coursework in any curriculum as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
    30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
    Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
    B. Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including the use of computer systems.

    • Ability to work independently, while contributing as part of a professional office team
    • Computer experience including Microsoft Office Suite

    Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 0846 - Office Support Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/1/2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
