Wells College, a small liberal arts college located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, is seeking applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Elementary Education starting August, 2023. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, supervising clinical field placements and student teaching, service to the college, and maintaining a modest research agenda. The Wells College Education Program provides pathways to initial teaching certification at the undergraduate level through the Inclusive Childhood Education Major (dual certification in Special Education and General Education Grades 1-6) and the Adolescent Education Program (certification in one of seven content areas, Grades 7-12), in addition to a minor in Education.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in the field of education from a nationally or regionally accredited institution or university. A background in literacy, and at least three years of experience working in K-12 public school classrooms with diverse populations.
Desired Qualifications: Post-secondary teaching experience working with teacher preparation programs. Experience supervising students in elementary education field experiences and student teaching placements. Experience with national program reviews or national accreditation agencies such as the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Experience with program assessment. Expertise in literacy, multicultural education, and culturally relevant pedagogy.
