  • Job DescriptionSummary: The Associate Director supports all efforts executed by the Office of Undergraduate Admission. This individual will serve on the Leadership Team in the Admissions Office and is vital to a high-performing enrollment team. Outstanding communication and organizational skills, along with a student-first mentality are essential to ensure successful enrollment and outreach efforts through recruitment travel, secondary school relations and programmatic responsibilities within the office.A primary function of this role is to attract, engage and enroll first-time, first-year degree seeking students from a designated territory. The Associate Director will have high programmatic, supervisory, and travel responsibilities. This role requires strong working relationships with the leadership in the undergraduate admission office and various stakeholders throughout the university to plan and execute an effective enrollment strategy.Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in a fast-paced environment are essential, as is a professional and resourceful approach. The candidate must possess outstanding demonstrated customer service experience that incorporates a global perspective along with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate must be able to succeed in a team setting as well as in one-on-one interactions. This individual must possess the skill to prioritize numerous, dynamic tasks and optimize a data-informed approach to student recruitment. A high level of proficiency in Technolutions Slate and Microsoft Office suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) is necessary.Evening/weekend work is a requirement during busy seasons.The Associate Director of Admissions reports to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions. This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:Provides direct supervision to designated counselor(s) and/or assistant director(s).Develops, plans, and implements specific projects with supervisee(s) while managing their schedules, processes, and performance.Assists in the development and implementation of annual strategic recruitment plans, using market data and performance metrics to evaluate efforts.Leads at least two special initiatives or significant secondary responsibilities from the following areas:On-campus program development and execution, lead training and professional development activities in the office, partner with marketing and communications on enrollment marketing efforts, develop and lead alumni admissions program, laisse with offices on campus such as Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement (DICE), Athletics, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Ops, etcProvides training and leadership in application evaluation and review and recommends admission decisions on all applications submitted within territory; ensuring the enrollment of a freshmen class that meets the strategic goals of the university.Develops and executes a plan to meet enrollment goals in managed territoryConducts market/territory research to identify the best areas to recruit to meet enrollment goalsPlans and executes 6-8 weeks of effective recruitment travel annually within an assigned territory: coordinating visits to high schools, hosting student receptions, representing Queens at college fairs and attending alumni events in assigned regions during fall, spring, and summer months.Prepares reports at the conclusion of travel seasons with market analysis and recommendations for future opportunities.Build and nurture strong relationships with prospective students and their families by thoughtfully and accurately communicating the value of a Queens education through all stages of the admission process.Attends on-campus activities, such as open house programs, major on campus interview events, admitted student yield programs, etc. and provides enhanced and direct service and support to guests and visitors.Prepares and delivers on-campus group information sessions for visiting families (daily in rotation).Maintains regular telephone and email contact with prospective students, families, and secondary school counselors regarding the admission process and the status of multiple and ongoing admission decisions.Participates in professional development opportunities, diversity initiatives, on-campus programs, and general office support, etc.Non-Essential Duties:Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and University needs.QualificationsExperience, Knowledge and Skills Required:5 years of experience in admission, enrollment management, recruiting or similar fieldStrong working knowledge of Technolutions Slate is desirableAbility to use data to make informed decisionsExcellent organizational skills with acute attention to detailStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly establish rapport with a wide spectrum of people, both external and internal to the universityExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to plan and deliver effective presentations to small and large groupsDemonstrated organization and planning skills; strong follow-up and follow-through skillsProven ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative, win-win mannerMust be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks and demandsComputer proficiency, particularly in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, ExcelAbility to work independently and as a member of a teamProven ability to quickly learn and apply new informationAvailability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and/or weekends to meet demands of the positionValid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license, or ability to attain same by hire dateBachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience, which includes at least 5 year of relevant experience.Application Process Does this sound like a good fit?
