Associate Dean of Education assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of education. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Education provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Education typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Associate Dean, Career and Technical Education

    Job Duties
    The Associate Dean is responsible for working with the Dean of Career and Technology Education in the development, implementation, and supervision of curriculum and instruction within the division. The Associate Dean will assist the Dean in the supervision of full-and part-time faculty, instructional support staff, and other personnel as assigned within the division. The Associate Dean works under the supervision of the Dean of CTE.

    The ideal candidate will have applied knowledge of workforce training offered as both credit and non-credit educational options in addition to the proven ability to interact with industry leaders and college colleagues. External and internal relationship-building across campuses is essential. Experience addressing student issues, managing budgets, overseeing grants and course schedules in addition to an established record of post-secondary teaching utilizing best practices in the area of applied learning is preferred. Experience supervising and managing skilled personnel is desired.

    A. Interact professionally and effectively with faculty, administration, staff, students and community.
    B. Use independent judgment.
    C. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
    D. Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
    E. Have general knowledge of budgeting and purchasing procedures.
    F. Possess basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database management computer skills.

    Required experience
    A. Successful teaching/training experience in a discipline within the division; community college experience preferred.
    B. Demonstrated success in an organizational leadership role; administrative/management experience preferred.

    Required educational background
    Master’s degree required.
