Associate Dean of Engineering jobs in Tucson, AZ

Associate Dean of Engineering assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of engineering. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Engineering provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Engineering typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Engineering typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Associate Dean, Curricular Affairs

    • Serve as the primary leader in the development and implementation of curricular initiatives.
    • Oversee the integration of basic and clinical science across the four years of medical school.
    • Ensure the undergraduate curriculum demonstrates evidence of coherence and coordination.
    • Provide vision and oversight for strategic curriculum development, implementation, and assessment for the medical degree programs.
    • Serve in an advisory and/or leadership capacity for relevant curricular management and development committees, and sub-committees.
    • Develop and lead a team of experienced educators, each of whom is administratively responsible for a significant area of the educational mission.
    • Strengthen partnerships with affiliate institutions and community physicians to benefit the educational mission.
    • Strengthen existing internal and external university relationships to promote inter-professional education.
    • Take responsibility for the maintenance and development of UME policies and procedures.
    • Work with other college leaders to ensure integration of curricular affairs policies, and procedures with other units.
    • Oversee the budget and human resources of the Curricular Affairs Office.
    • Ensure the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards regarding the medical curriculum are met.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of modern educational technologies.
    • Knowledge of and experience with population health, community-based models, integration of basic science and clinical medicine, and inter-professional education.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary medical education trends and expertise in curriculum design and pedagogical methods, including problem-based learning, self-directed learning, and team-based learning. Involvement in unique innovative and alternative methods for teaching is desired.
