Associate Dean of Fine Arts assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of fine arts. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Fine Arts provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Colorado Rocky Mountain School is looking for a highly qualified, full-time, upper-school silversmithing teacher. Fine arts educators at CRMS cultivate creativity, effective art studio habits, and an ethos of excellence. Our visual arts curriculum includes a focus on craftsmanship, art history, diverse genres, and art critical analysis. This teacher will also maintain our gallery spaces with student art displays.
CRMS faculty employ a student-centered approach to teaching, meeting individual students' needs in developing an academically vibrant and skilled level of scholarship. Faculty also participate in our active program (including outdoor, sports, arts, and community service curricula) and contribute to our residential and advisory programs.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Teach three to four visual arts courses-Silversmithing, Ceramics, and other courses as needed
Manage silversmithing and Ceramics studio and budget
Support boarding students as a dorm parent in the evening and weekend residential program
Mentor a group of students as an advisor
Instruct active program curriculum including trips, mountain sports, arts, or service work
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Foster inclusion and social justice, ensuring all students’ sense of belonging
Take on other duties as needed
Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in visual arts required; advanced degree and/or teaching credential preferred
Visual arts teaching experience
Expertise silversmithing or ceramic arts
Plan to expand professional learning as needed
Demonstrated experience in the use of technology, and in integrating technological applications in the classroom
Organization/time-management skills
Cultural competencies required to promote inclusion, equity, and belonging within a diverse cultural and social framework
Ability to effectively engage with students as a dorm parent and advisor
