Associate Dean of Fine Arts assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of fine arts. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Fine Arts provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Dean of Academics will be a key actor in shaping the academic program around these principles. 

    Summary of Responsibilities 

    • The Dean of Academics is responsible for leading and coordinating the school’s academic program as well as supporting the continued professional growth of the faculty. 
    • Partnership with department chairs and leadership of the Curriculum Committee is a primary mechanism to achieve the type of alignment and programmatic evolution that the school seeks. 
    • The Academic Dean will lead the Academic Office, including the Director of Studies and Registrar, as well as oversee the library and educational technology. In coordination with the Chief People Officer and Dean of Faculty, the Dean of Academics will work in the hiring process to attract and retain educators committed to our vision and mission.
    • This position is a part of the leadership structure of the school, reporting to the Associate Head of School and acting as a key member of the Leadership Team.
