Associate Dean of Fine Arts assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of fine arts. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Fine Arts provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Museum Fine Arts - Student Assistant

  • The Fine Arts Collection Department at the UA Museum of the North is seeking a Student Assistant to work up to 40 hours per week over the summer.

    In this position, students will work with the Fine Arts Collection Manager on a variety of tasks, including cataloging collections into the Arctos collections database, assisting with research inquiries, loans, shipment, inventory, labeling, photography, and rehousing of collections, among other tasks.

    Preference will be given to applicants with in-depth knowledge of: art, art history, art in Alaska and the circumpolar North, museum studies, humanities and social sciences, and/or material culture.

    Ideal applicants will have a genuine interest in art and museum collection management.

    To be successful in this role, applicants will possess the following:
    - Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
    - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    - Ability to prioritize varied tasks.
    - Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in cooperation with other employees and faculty.
    - Basic computer skills and knowledge of basic computer software.
    - Ability to lift 40 lb.

    Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credits with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

    Position Details:

    This position is up to 40 hours a week during the summer and starts at $14.96 per hour.
