Associate Dean of Humanities assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of humanities. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Humanities provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Humanities typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Humanities typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs will supervise, advise, and provide leadership of the activities of the Office of Curricular Affairs. As the senior academic officer, the Associate Dean is responsible for the overall conduct and supervision of the undergraduate medical education program to ensure quality and oversee full compliance with LCME accreditation standards. The candidate plays a pivotal role in aligning academic and operational processes within the School of Medicine and has primary responsibility for the development, implementation, and evaluation of our integrative curriculum across UME. We seek an accomplished and visionary leader with expertise in curriculum development and evaluation, knowledge of evidence-based and active learning methodologies including case-based teaching and has an interest in educational research and scholarship. The ideal candidate will work closely with the core teaching faculty, curriculum coordinators, Assistant Deans for Education, and other stakeholders to ensure that the curriculum goals are met, the curriculum principles are supported by appropriate pedagogies, the supporting learning activities and technologies are of high quality, and that the assessment of student learning is meaningful. The Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs reports to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.

Founded in 2021 by philanthropist Alice Walton, the School of Medicine will offer a medical degree-granting program that builds on conventional medicine with an inclusive, compassionate, and whole health approach. The School of Medicine embraces self-care to empower students to care for their patients and themselves and helps them rise to the health challenges of the 21st century with a focus on mental, physical, social, and emotional health. The School will have an attached clinic for training in these concepts. Currently, the School of Medicine seeks to be a national medical school with the goal of welcoming its inaugural class in 2025, pending programmatic and institutional accreditation.
Construction of the 154,000 square-foot building has begun with the goal of completing and welcoming the first class in Fall 2025, pending accreditation. AWSOM will be located east of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.
